About erstoalgae
Facade protection against algae and fungal growth
erstoalgae is the ERST product line for long-term facade protection and maintenance.
Facades are exposed daily to moisture, UV radiation, temperature fluctuations, and biological surface contamination. Particularly in shaded, damp, or heavily weathered locations, their appearance can be impaired in the long term.
erstoalgae was developed for facades that not only need to be recoated, but also protected and visually maintained in the long term. The product line combines water-repellent properties, high weather resistance, and long-term protection against algae and fungal growth.
Depending on the object, substrate and weather conditions, two variants are available: erstoalgae Balance for normal facade and weather conditions and erstoalgae Resist for heavily exposed exterior surfaces.

How does erstoalgae work?
Where moisture remains on the surface for extended periods, the risk of algae and fungal growth increases. This is precisely where erstoalgae comes in.
The coatings help reduce moisture exposure on the facade surface and contribute to a long-term reduction in the risk of renewed growth. This results in a durable, visually stable facade surface with a high-quality, well-maintained appearance.
erstoalgae supports protection against:
algal growth
Fungal growth
microbial discoloration
moisture-related facade soiling
weather-related surface stress
The Variants
Two performance profiles. One goal: facades that remain well maintained over the long term.
erstoalgae Balance
For facades where vapour permeability and moisture regulation are paramount.
erstoalgae Balance is a highly vapour-permeable silicone-resin facade paint for mineral substrates, plasters, sound, matte existing coatings, and synthetic resin plasters. The coating is water-repellent, promotes balanced moisture behavior of the facade, and offers a pronounced beading effect.
erstoalgae Resist
For facades that are more heavily exposed to weather, wind and atmosphere.
erstoalgae Resist is a highly weather-resistant pure acrylic facade coating for exterior facades exposed to harsh weather conditions. The coating is highly water-repellent and vapour-permeable and designed to withstand increased stress from driving rain, wind, high humidity, salty air, and demanding atmospheric conditions.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about erstoalgae
Can erstoalgae remove existing algae growth?
No, heavy growth must be professionally removed before coating. erstoalgae then supports the long-term stabilization of the facade surface and reduces the risk of renewed growth.
Is the coating vapor-permeable?
Yes, moisture can escape from the substrate.
For which facade types is erstoalgae suitable? For mineral substrates (plaster, concrete, masonry). For ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems): Preliminary tests/approval required.
Can erstoalgae be tinted?
Yes, within a defined, defined, system-compatible colour spectrum.
How long does the algae protection last?
The protective effect depends on the location and the level of stress, and is designed for a long-term reduction of microbial growth.
