About erstoalgae Resist
Pure Acrylic Facade Coating for Heavily Exposed Facades

erstoalgae Resist is the durable variant of the erstoalgae product line. This highly weather-resistant pure acrylic facade coating was developed for facade surfaces that are more heavily exposed to moisture, driving rain, wind, high humidity, salty air, or demanding atmospheric conditions.

After drying, erstoalgae Resist forms a robust, highly water-repellent and vapour-permeable protective layer. It provides long-term protection against algae and fungal growth, as well as against weather and environmental influences.

What is the coating suitable for?

For facades Subject to High Exposure

On exposed building sides, near the coast, in high humidity, or on facades heavily weathered, conventional coatings are often insufficient. In these situations, a coating is needed that is designed for durability, water repellency, and resistance.

erstoalgae Resist offers exactly this performance profile: highly water-repellent, resistant to driving rain and suitable for demanding atmospheric conditions such as salty air or acid rain.

Compared to erstoalgae Balance, erstoalgae Resist has a lower water-vapour permeability and no pronounced beading effect. However, the coating is specifically designed for high durability and strong water repellency.

What are typical areas of application?

erstoalgae RESIST is suitable for:

  • facades exposed to harsh weather

  • exposed building sides

  • Facades exposed to high levels of driving rain

  • coastal and maritime locations

  • Facades exposed to salty air and high humidity

  • Structures near traffic areas with increased atmospheric pollution

  • Renovation facades with increased moisture or biological growth exposure

  • Concrete, plaster and masonry facades

  • Synthetic resin plasters and suitable existing coating systems

  • Historic or sensitive facade areas subject to a project-specific assessment

Processing in the system

erstoalgae Resist is applied to sound, properly prepared, and appropriately primed substrates. The facade surface must be clean, dry, sound, and free of any substances that could impair adhesion.
Algae and fungal growth, moss, organic deposits, loose plaster or facade components, as well as unsound old coatings, must be professionally removed beforehand. A test area is recommended for critical or unknown old coatings.

After cleaning, a suitable hydrosol-based deep primer, such as erstoprime, should be applied to consolidate the substrate and regulate its absorbency. Depending on the substrate and the manufacturer's instructions, the primer can be diluted with up to 10% water. This should be followed by at least two undiluted topcoats. In areas exposed to heavy driving rain, wind, or environmental conditions, an additional topcoat may be necessary.
Application is done by rolling, brushing or airless spraying.
