About erstotherm
Energy-efficient thermal protection coating
erstotherm is a thermofunctional interior and specialist coating based on vacuum-filled ceramic particles.
It was developed to:
-
to increase surface temperatures
-
To mitigate thermal bridges
-
To reduce condensation and thus the risk of mould
-
To noticeably improve room comfort
The coating forms an elastic, vapour-permeable functional layer that supports moisture regulation and thermal performance.

Operating principle

How does erstotherm work?
1. Vacuum ceramic microstructure
The functional particles included are:
-
They contribute to the thermofunctional properties of the coating
-
support the management of thermal radiation at the surface
-
reduce local heat losses
Depending on the substrate, wall construction, layer thickness and ambient conditions, the coating can contribute to an increase in surface temperature, particularly on thermally critical building components.
2. Temperature buffering
The coating reacts quickly to temperature changes and buffers against cold and heat effects.
3. Condensate reduction
Higher wall surface temperatures result in:
-
Reduces the risk of surface temperatures falling below the dew point
-
Supports the reduction of condensation
-
Can reduce condensation-related mould risk
4. Diffusion-open moisture control
erstotherm is permeable to water vapour and supports a vapour-permeable system build-up.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About erstotherm
Does erstotherm replace thermal insulation?
No, erstotherm is a thermofunctional coating, not thermal insulation as defined by the GEG. It is a thermofunctional coating designed to influence surface temperatures locally.
How much does the wall surface temperature increase?
The achievable effect depends on the substrate, wall construction, layer thickness and ambient conditions. Surface temperatures can increase under suitable conditions; the actual change is project-specific.
Can erstotherm help reduce the risk of mould growth?
By supporting higher surface temperatures and reducing the risk of condensation, erstotherm can help reduce condensation-related mould risk. It does not replace the treatment of existing mould contamination or measures addressing the underlying cause.
How does the effect feel subjectively?
Rooms appear "warmer" and more balanced because temperature differences on surfaces are reduced.
Can erstotherm be used outdoors?
Only in coordinated system setups and with separate approval.
